In the spring of 2017, the Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce received a grant from the Clayton County Foundation for the Future to purchase an information station for downtown Guttenberg. Additional funding from the Dr. Andy and MJ Smith Donor Advised Fund allowed us to purchase a second information station, which will be placed on the public restrooms on the 500 block of South River Park Drive. Brochure holders will also be added to each board.
The purpose of the project is to promote awareness among visitors and residents of all that Guttenberg has to offer, from community events and activities, to attractions and amenities, to businesses and services by placing information stations at key locations. These information boards will include a community calendar of events for the current month, an annual calendar of major community events, a map and directory showing businesses and attractions, and event posters. Groups planning activities in Guttenberg should submit information here or drop off a flyer at least a week before the beginning of a new month to make sure their event is included on the following month's calendar.
As a provider and promoter of many community events, the Chamber aims to help disseminate knowledge of the many events planned in the community, including festivals, live music, dances, gourmet diners, art receptions and exhibits, retail events, athletic events, educational programs, classes and workshops, social and civic organizations' activities, and more. There are dozens of opportunities for entertainment, dining, shopping, learning, and more, in our own community that residents and visitors can take advantage of each month, and we want to help spread the word.
We encourage Guttenberg residents to check out the new information board when visiting the park to see upcoming events and activities.
Thank you to the Clayton County Foundation for the Future and the Dr. Andy and MJ Smith Donor Advised Fund for providing funding for this project. We are grateful for your contributions and dedication to our community.
