
An ice carving demonstration by carver Matt Meadows will take place starting at 11am. Stay warm inside the Marina Center and watch as a block of ice is transformed into a work of art!
Warm up with our chili cook-off from 11am-2pm. Taste a variety of chili, vote for your favorite, and enjoy hot cider and treats. Due to space limitations, the 2017 cook-off will accept the first eight entries. Individuals may contact Emily Sadewasser at 563-252-2323 to enter the cook-off, or stop at the Welcome Center to fill out an entry form. Deadline to enter is February 8. The Chili Cook-Off grand prize is a 32" TV provided by The Guttenberg Motel. Second and third place winners will receive Guttenberg Bucks, and places 1-3 will receive a Chili Cook-Off trophy.
The RARE Group (Raptor Advocacy, Rehabilitation, and Education) of Iowa City will be back by popular demand to give a presentation featuring live raptors; an Eastern Screech Owl and an American Kestrel, and lots of interesting information at 2:30pm. Children and adults alike enjoy this fascinating up-close look at these birds of prey.
New this year is an adult beginner's oil painting class offered by the Bent Willow Studio and Gallery. Instructor Rabecca Hennessey will guide participants through their own raptor painting from 3:30-5:30pm at the 14 Schiller Street studio space. No supplies or experience are needed. The cost is $30 per person, including a glass of wine. Funds will be donated to help support the RARE Group. Space is limited, so get some friends together and sign up by calling Rabecca at 563-845-1524 or emailing bentwillowgallery@hotmail.com before February 6.

The Marina Visitor Center has excellent views of the river and binoculars will be available to help you catch a glimpse of the magnificent Bald Eagles that can often be seen fishing south of Lock and Dam 10.
