Originally from Fremont, Nebraska, Kevin holds a degree in Business Administration with an accounting emphasis from Wayne State College. He has worked in the construction, transportation, and telecommunication industries in financial reporting, budget and cash flow forecasting and billing. Rabecca, a talented artist, studied Commercial Art and Graphic Design and serves as a Certified Insurance Counselor at the Thrivent Office. Living in Texas since 1994, Kevin moved to Guttenberg in 2011 to join fiancee Rabecca. The couple got connected with Thrivent Financial through a Thrivent representative they met at the coffee shop, The Buzz. After interviewing with the company, Kevin began studying for certification to offer securities, life and health insurance, and annuities. Kevin and Rabecca opened their business in July of 2012 with Kevin as the local Financial Representative for Thrivent Financial.
Thrivent Financial works with people to create financial strategies that enable them to protect their loved ones through life, disability, and long term care insurance as well as through planning for retirement. Kevin’s main goal is to guide people to be wise with money. “Once we learn to be wise with money, we can then learn to live generously by giving back to our community,” says Kevin. Thrivent helps their clients give back in several ways. Charitable, community, or educational events can be supported through Thrivent clients by enabling them to apply for a $250 Community Impact Card to help with these events. There have been over 35,000 of these Action Team projects completed in 2015. One creative Action Team used their Community Impact Card to purchase materials to reinforce toppling headstones at an area cemetery. Members in this area have started Action Teams for maintenance on the Monona Butterfly Garden, for children’s games at Guttenberg’s Stars & Stripes Celebration, to buy material to create quilts for Quilts of Valor, and for many other projects. Thrivent also gives back to communities and churches through a program called Choice Dollars, in which eligible members can designate funds back to churches and charities of their choice. Thrivent Financial has been selected for the last four consecutive years to the list of “The World’s Most Ethical Companies” by Ethisphere Institute, an international think tank focusing on ethical business practices.
“My best days are when I am working with clients providing sound financial advice and knowing that I am helping them improve their picture of their financial future,” says Kevin. His clients like working one on one with him because he takes the time to understand their situation and brings solutions that address their biggest concerns for protecting their income, planning for retirement, and leaving a legacy. Kevin helps clients realize the picture they have for retirement in order to decide what they want their money to do for them; then he works with them to create a road map to achieve those goals. He points out that you do not have to be wealthy to consult with a financial professional, “it is not about how much money you make but rather how well you manage the money you make.”
