David began working at Danny Carrier’s service center, Danny’s Auto Repair, in 1977 as a sophomore in high school. He started out working on small engines and sharpening lawn mower and chain saw blades and then began working on cars. Dave received his Automotive Service Excellence certification just after graduating from high school and is a Master Technician. When Danny retired in 1999, David was able to achieve a long term goal - owning the business. Under Dave’s ownership, Danny’s Auto Repair became Autotek Service Center.
Autotek offers automotive and light truck repair, work on tires, brakes, engines, transmissions, air conditioning, climate control, and some light body work. Autotek does flatbed towing and recovery, and is an American Automobile Association (AAA) approved auto repair center. Dave enjoys helping customers and as a car enthusiast, his work allows him to do something he enjoys and something different every day.
It works well for Sheryl to be highly involved in the intake process for vehicle repairs because she can also help customers who are interested in design work. Sheryl laughingly refers to herself as the business’ “gopher,” but her secretarial work ensures that the automotive and design businesses run smoothly. Sheryl’s creativity and Dave’s experience and enthusiasm for cars make them a great team. When asked about this partnership, Sheryl simply says with a smile, “We love our jobs.”
