The Brown’s story began in 1964, when at the age of 24, Dave Brown was the youngest person in the country to be awarded a Ford franchise in his hometown of Guttenberg, Iowa. Dave had only one employee, a one-car showroom, and a three-car service department, but he had a vision of bigger things to come. Brown’s first expanded with a Mercury franchise, then moved onto vans and eventually expanded into five locations in four cities selling Ford, Chevrolet, Buick, Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, and Ram brands in addition to selling many brands of recreational vehicles.

Dave’s sons, David and Forest, strive to continue the Brown’s tradition of treating customers like family—started by their father over 50 years ago. The Brown’s Family of Dealerships has grown to a team of over 175 employees, and proudly serves the communities of Guttenberg, Elkader, Dyersville, and the West Branch locations (Ford) & (Chrysler)
