IOWA SMALL BUSINESS RELIEF FUND
On March 23, Governor Reynolds announced a new Iowa Small Business Relief Program to provide financial assistance to small businesses and tax deferrals to Iowa businesses economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is NOT first-come, first-served. All applications received by the deadline, March 31 at 12:00 p.m. (noon), will be reviewed for consideration. TARGETED SMALL BUSINESS SOLE OPERATOR FUND
A fund has been created to support Targeted Small Businesses (TSB) with zero employees that have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will process applications in order of receipt of application and submission of all required documents until funds are exhausted. FEDERAL CARES ACT
The $2 trillion dollar Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (the “CARES Act”), provides economic relief to businesses, states and municipalities and individuals affected by COVID-19. While the scope of the CARES Act is wide-ranging, this limited summary provides a high-level overview of unemployment benefits and the relief available for qualifying business concerns.
SBA DISASTER ASSISTANCE LOANS
The SBA issued a disaster declaration for the state of Iowa as of March 21, 2020. The declaration allows pandemic-impacted small businesses to apply for low-interest support loans. The declaration comes after Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds submitted a federal funding request via the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. Click here for application links and more information.

Individuals with questions of a legal nature should call the COVID-19 Legal Information Hotline at 1-800-332-0419. It was developed in partnership with Iowa Legal Aid, the Iowa State Bar Association and the Polk County Volunteer Lawyer Project. The hotline can assist Iowans with business and compliance issues, eviction, denial of unemployment benefits, employment issues and other personal legal concerns. You will be asked to leave a message and someone will return your call.
